2020 Kia Telluride vs 2020 Hyundai Palisade
The Kia Telluride was introduced for the 2020 model year as Kia’s 3-row mid-size SUV. Similarly, the Hyundai Palisade was launched by the Hyundai Motor Company for the 2020 model year. Both vehicles were launched to compete against the American-made rivals Chevrolet Traverse and Ford Explorer. Both the Telluride and Palisade share many similarities. Both vehicles share certain parts and components as Hyundai and Kia share common ownership and manufacturing facilities. In this article, we will explore the similarities and differences of the 2020 Kia Telluride versus the 2020 Hyundai Palisade.
Both the Telluride and Palisade offer customers a spacious interior with seating of up to 8 passengers. Both vehicles come standard with incredible technology options including an 8” Touch Screen Display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and enough power outlets and USB ports for the entire family. Some difference between the vehicles stand out when you compare the luxury trim levels. For example, the Hyundai Palisade offers customers a 12.3” digital cluster as well as power folding third row seats – options not available on the Telluride. The luxury trims on both vehicles (SX for Telluride and Limited for Palisade) offer incredible comfort and convenience features including Leather Trim Seats, Heated/Ventilated Front Seats (2nd row available as an option), and a Dual Sunroof. Other tech and safety features on both vehicles include Touchscreen Navigation, Blind-Spot Detection and Lane-Keeping technology.
While the interiors of the Telluride and Palisade seem very similar, the differences in the exterior are much more noticeable. While both vehicles are built on the same platform, the Telluride offers a low-key yet powerful front grille complete with “Telluride” lettering placed above a “Kia” logo. Conversely, the Palisade offers a much more pronounced oversized and rounded front grille with sleek LED headlights. The exterior comparison really comes down to customer preference as both vehicles offer 18”-20” alloy wheels, LED headlights and a sleek modern appeal.
Performance and Towing
Just when you thought the Telluride and Palisade couldn’t be more similar, both vehicles are built with the same 3.8L 6-cylinder engine. You can get both vehicles in a Front-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive drivetrain offering up to 26 and 24 MPG on the highway, respectively. Both the Telluride and Palisade offer customers a 5,000-lb towing capacity, providing customers with plenty of confidence in towing a U-Haul or small trailer.
Like any vehicle, the price fluctuates based on trim level and optional features. On the base models, the Kia Telluride holds a slight edge at an MSRP of $31,890 compared to $31,975 on the Hyundai Palisade. The Telluride offers a lower price on the top-level trim coming in at an MSRP of $41,790 vs $45,125 on the Palisade; however the Palisade does offer more luxury features justifying the higher price tag.
The Telluride and Palisade are very similar vehicles. Due to common ownership between the two, both are built on the same platform and offer similar technology and performance features. With the starkest difference between the two models being the exterior look, it really comes down to customer preference. We may be biased but we prefer the look and feel of the 2020 Kia Telluride.
